Behind the famine.Summary: In the article, "Behind the famine." written by John Madeley; the author talks about what is behind famine that people sometimes forget. He started by giving different cause of famine such as disease, higher mortality, droughts, civil war, and natural catastrophe. Famine is affecting over 10million people in Africa and nobody can solve this problem in a year. Another reason of famine is climat change. The author emphasizes on the climate change that leads to an increased of frequency of droughts, flood. People are moving out, farmers have to move in order to save their life. However, he used a little opposition when he said: "The climate change is not a problem in Africa because wetern countries are trying to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions." Climate change is another cause of suffering in Africa because it is making the production and the agricuture activies worse.
Analysis: The article is clear but little bit narrow. The author did not use enough examples or statistics to support his points in order to make it easier tounderstand. It seems like he agreed with something and disagree in the same moment. I just wonder if climate change is really impacting Africa? I know that Africa don't use too much gas that can distroy their climate or increase ozone hole. Reflection:The article was okay because it helped me to know more about the effect of climate change in Africa however, it was unclear and difficult to uderstand. I will join it in my research blog because it has new information. Madeley, John. "Behind the Famine."
