What I learned in my class
The semester started on January 2017, I learned a lot in this class. First, I learned how to create a blog through Weebly website. A blog is a place where people prefer to express their opinions and feelings about different facts in the world. I did not know how to create or even edit a blog, I believe this new knowledge will be very necessary in everyday life. For example, I can be able to create a blog where I can share my experience in United States in order to help others foreign students to survive in this new place. Second, I learned how to do a rhetorical analysis. I used to write descriptive essay, persuasive essay and many others however, I learned how to analyze an article without giving my opinions but based on logos, ethos and pathos expressed by different authors. I learned how to do a critical thinking on in an academic way. I think that will be helpful in the future when I will be in a position to make decisions or I am include in a rhetorical argument. I can give my point of views based on important facts instead of my emotions. Third, I learned how to do reach in ProQuest in order to complete my research on my line of inquiry. Developing one line of inquiry for the whole semester was the most difficult work in this class. I learned how to do academic and specific research to complete my line of inquiry . I learned how to pick the right one and reject the unimportant one. Fourth, I learned how to do a round table essay by collecting how information I had from my research and raise three voices to talk about my line of inquiry. It was very helpful because it helped me to write another type of essay different from an argumentative essay. It will be important while in other English's class I will be able to show my expertise. I also learned how to give an information by using another genre like a newspaper, a prayer, etc. I believe it will bee important in the future where I would like to express my feelings through other way then writing, and it will help to grab intention of the audience with a different genre. Finally the least but not the less important, I learned how to create an portfolio. I will help me in my career life because I can post my experience and resume, and employers can have a look on it and hire me. I can build a profile and post it online for everybody. I think this class was the most helpful because it helped me to gain knowledge that I can use outside.
Slam poetry
Like the robber that is attracted by money,
like the criminal that’s paid to kill,
so they got tempted by our gold, our diamond and our oil.
so they came to steal, to kill and to destroy us.
they stole our gold,
they stole our diamond
and they stole our oil.
when we resisted, they kill us with their inhuman policies
like apartheid in S.Africa,
and by destroying us, they took us as slaves.
we now live in ghettos
we die of poverty and famine
Children are weak,
And mentally retarded,
Prematurely aged with yellow hair,
No clothing on the body,
Swollen stomach
Their arms and legs looked like sticks,
Although six and a half month old,
Their ringlets skin and thin legs gives no chance to crawl,
Their closed mouth gives no chance to sucker
A man walks along a path feeling very thirsty,
Looking tap water to quench his thirsty,
Ready to quench even the colored salty water,
Because no single coin in his pocket
Dead brothers and sisters lying on the streets,
Not for bullets but due to hunger,
Waiting to be picked up for their painless journey,
Poverty is a war and has been a war for decades
What is love if you can eat in front of your neighbored who is starving to death?
like the criminal that’s paid to kill,

Reflective letter
I wanted to post my slam poetry because I think it is one of my big success. I said it because it was challenging for me to present it in front of the entire class. I skipped it several times but the instructor ended up by forcing me to present. I think I love it because I was able to use my research and my brain to come up with a whole poem made by me. I used my creativity and my passion for my line of inquiry to write an entire poem. My only regret is that I was not able to present it the way I wanted because I was super nervous in front of those people with their judgmental faces. If I had to do it one more time, I will present with emotion that will be perceived in my tone of voice. I will raise my voice and keep eyes contact with the audience to communicate without words the pain and suffering Africans are facing.
Word cloud
Reflective letter
Word cloud was a good exercise that helped me to communicate a message with different words in a hand. The hand represent the awareness; it is like a sign of stop and take a look of the problem in Africa. It represents authority and help people to have a look on the problem because many people do not know that. This work helped me to learn how to do word cloud because I did not know how to do that at all. I love the different color and the size of my words. I wanted to capitalize important word so that it can capture people's attention and they would like to know more about that.

Why Africa?
What is humanity when you can eat in front of your neighbor who is starving to death? What is love when thousands of people are dying of hunger in Africa and you watch without intervening? Africa is one of the richest continent in the world; however, it is the poorest. Thousands of children are dying each day of famine and most of them had lost their parents because of HIV/AIDS. The situation escalated and most of Africans are immigrating to other countries in order to look for a better living condition. Africa is poor because of many reasons; such as, lack of knowledge and greedy leaders. Nevertheless, many solutions have been proposed to help Africa overcome this dark situation that makes the continent weak. A lot of aid has been sent in Africa; however, it is either not enough or not safe for the population. Africa is called the dark continent because of the situation is going through such as hunger. Some writers stated that the only reason to overcome hunger in Africa is to heal sick people of HIV/AIDS; while others think that Africa should use biological technology to triple its production and to be independent from outside aid. Three main voices talked about the situation in Africa from different perspectives.
First, the African’s soil is catastrophe. Although the fact that Africa has the most fertile soil in the world because of its tropical weather, farmers still use traditional method in agriculture that make the production insufficient to feed the population. According to Pedro Sanchez in his article, “Hunger in Africa: the link between unhealthy people and unhealthy soil” stated: “Africa, unlike Asia, did not benefit from the green revolution, one of the key successes of humankind in the latter third of the 20th century.” (Sanchez 442). Asia had the same problem than Africa a while ago; however, they used new technologies to double their production. That why today China is among the principle producer of rice in the world. Farmers in Africa still rely on rainfall to feed their crops instead of using irrigation. They cannot afford chemical products to fertilize their soil. They prefer letting the crops growing naturally that make the production slow while thousands of people are starving to death. “No matter how genetic improvement is, crops cannot grow well without sufficient nitrogen and phosphorus” (Sanchez 443). What happened to Africa when green revolution was helping Asia to find a way out of famine? To fight hunger in Africa, the solution should be to teach farmers how to use new materials; such as, fertilizers to increase the production. To solve this problem of ignorance, it requires more than teaching them new methods. How to reach those ignorant farmers? How to teach irrigation in a place where half of continent barely have electricity?
Secondly, African does not have only an unhealthy soil, but also unhealthy population. According to Alex Wall in his article, “New variant famine: AIDS and food crisis in southern Africa”; stated: “Our hypothesis is that the HIV/AIDS epidemic in southern Africa accounts why many households are facing food shortage and explains the grim trajectory of limited recovery.” (Wall 1237) HIV/AIDS is a disease sexually transmitted or by mother-to-child. Many Africans have this disease that can cause death earlier or later. The fact is many women are contaminated and have desperately died so, there are not enough farmer left to plant the seeds. The majority of the population is full of teenagers and grandparents who cannot work with the same skills than experienced, but sick adults. According to David Masci in his article, “Famine in Africa”; he pointed out: “The death of the strongest, most productive members of the community also means that the most vulnerable are the left to fend for themselves” (Masci 15). Sick adults left behind them, many orphans who have to fight to survive in this crazy continent.
Who is caring the burden of those orphans? Most of those orphans are malnourished and skip meals for weeks. They have a swollen stomach and their thin hands and legs look like stick. They look like skeleton since there is possibility to see each bones from their side; however, those unfortunate children are the most impacted by famine. What can we do when there is not anybody to work? There is decline of production because of lack of workers on the field. Alex de Wall proposed in his article to heal sick people first and reduce the contamination of this disease. If several scientists can work on the cure of cancer since it is killing few people recently in America, Europe. Why nobody is working on the cure of HIV/AIDS that has been killing Africans since 1999?
The third voice is about the solution to famine. Florence Wambugu wrote an article “Why Africa needs agricultural biotech?” to persuade the readers that Africa should use biological technology in their agriculture in order to double even triple their production to save Africa. Few aids were proposed by Americans and Europeans in order to help Africa in this situation. While Americans send food directly to the hungry population, Europeans prefer to send money because it a shortcut. Americans send Genetics Modified Food because they think it is safe and cannot cause any trouble for human’s health in the future, but Europeans think the opposite. In Zimbabwe; for example, the president, Robert Mugabe totally prohibited the entrance of GMO food in his country even if thousands of people are dying of hunger. “we don’t see how a country can say there may be risks , therefore we will not give it to the population, when there is the [clear] risk that the population will die of hunger” (Masci 4). However, the author Florence Wambugu thinks that Africa does not have any other way out than biotechnology techniques. Even though biotechnology may be a risk for the population, it is the only way to save Africa. Above Alex Waal explained how late Africa in new techniques of agriculture, so the production is less than expected that is doing more harm than benefit to Africans. Why Africa hesitates to use genetics modified food when it is facing critic problem of famine? Africa does not have any alternative, biotechnology will help improve the seeds quality and resist pests; it will also help Africa to be independent from developing countries. It will help Africa to be less exploited because developing countries do not help Africa for free; they are expecting something else from it; such as, exploiting its minerals, oil, etc. Using biotechnology will help Africa to be able to produce their own product and save themselves. “Africa can speak for themselves” (Wambugu 16).
The Dark Continent has been facing famine’s problem for years now and thousands of people died already. Why nobody is talking about this issue? Because it is a normal fact today. There are many solutions to save; Africa such as, to teach farmers the use of new technology, to heal sick people of HIV/AIDS and to introduce the use of biotechnology. The population prefer to migrate instead of facing the reality and figure out a solution; Africa is losing its intellectual, talented and skilled people. If Africa can dare to use GM food even its consequences, it will save thousands of lives instead of doing nothing at all. “Africa missed the green revolution which helped Asia and Latin America achieve self-sufficiency in food production. Africa cannot afford to be excluded o to miss another major global [technology revolution]” (Wambugu 15).

Reflective letter
I decided to post this because I think it is my best writing paper because I had to write it after researching so much on this line of inquiry and I just use my findings and my brain to put everything together. I actually had the time to correct few grammar errors I made after my paper had been graded; I think I should work more on my commas and semi-colon because it was my weakness. I had also to correct my citation and in-text citation; I did not know that an article or a book should be in italics. I corrected it and put everything in order. I also forgot to put in-text citation that I also corrected. The instructor notified that I did not have enough strong transitions from a paragraph to another one that I did correct by changing few transition words in order to have connection between paragraphs. I tried to correct my MLA citation so that it can look great. I think I deserve the B I had in this paper because after I saw my mistakes I realized that I did not deserve an A. I should have been more careful on the transitions words and some grammar errors.

Doodle
I chose to post my doodle because it is saying in few images how I felt during this semester in my ENG 112-47. In short, I can say this class was not the easiest one because I thought a lot about dropping it off. However, as an international student I had to have 12 credits. When the teacher talked about what we will have to do in this class I felt confused but I knew I will pass this class no matter what. When I started working on my blog, I enjoyed it because I was learning many things about my line of inquiry that help me to understand it. Nevertheless, it was passionate until I had to do my rhetorical analysis; I hated it. I had a 80/100 that was good for me. Then, the instructor overwhelmed me when she gave us the round table, multi-genre and E-portfolio to work on it in a short amount of time. It was boring and made me hate the class and even the teacher. I think I should have drawn another image saying how I love the work when it is done. Now when I scroll down and look at my pages, I feel proud of me because I did something I thought impossible before.
last day of freedom
Among all critic review I had to do in this class, I love this one better that why I decided to post it. I like it because it is about a guy who has PTSD a mental disorder but he was condemned to death for crime he did not commit. It was emotional because his brother felt so sad because he just let him die. I think there was racism in this situation and the ;lawyer was in-experimented. it was unfair to condemn him without considering his mental problem. There are many people who have mental problem after being in army or because they faced a difficult situation. I think everybody or all black people are not dangerous or criminal; we should find out the deep source of the problem. There is always a reason.
