PROPOSAL
My multi-genre project is about my line of inquiry ‘famine in Africa’. I will communicate to my audience through another way than writing a paper about the situation Africa is facing for more than an half century now. For the print-media genre I chose to do the newspaper article, for the visual display I chose to do a certificate of death; for the informational genre I decided to an interview. For the creative writing I decided to do a prayer. Finally I will do a persuasive essay for the structured genre.
For the first genre, I decided to do a newspaper article because I will communicate to people living in developing countries how bad the situation is. I will use pictures to show the crisis that will show an appeal to emotions in order to motivate people to take an action. This newspaper article will be an immediate need of help for Africa. I will use the first page of the newspapers to communicate and describe the situation.
For the second genre visual display I chose to do a certificate of death because I want to it to impact also people who do not know the problem of Africa. Africa lost thousands of people who died because of hunger, so I think it will be great to show one of the certificate of death that will tell the audience the cause of death and how long the person suffered before dying. I think it will appeals people’s emotions and convince them with real proof that the issue is worse than they imagine. I will use internet research to make the certificate and use someone’s name who died with hunger in Africa. It will be easy because they are a lot. I think it will build my credibility a lot since there is a real evidence. I will use a certificate death in internet and fill it up with desired information. It will depends on other genres by the way it will be a proof after stating the issue through a newspaper’s article.
Third, I will picked to do an interview for the informational genre because I want to inform my audience through a real testimony from someone had experienced famine in Africa. I will interview my father’s friend who lives in Congo where famine is a serious problem. Through different questions, he will inform my audience about what is going on and how people overcome this situation in Africa. Or I can interview myself because I have lived in Africa for 18 years before I moved in America. This genre will support other genre by supporting my line of inquiry with information from an experienced person. It will be sequence because after showing the problem through newspapers, I use proof such as certificate of death and an interview to complete my statement.
Fourth, I chose to do a prayer because I want to touch my audience’s feelings by praying God to intervene. I think my audience will be God because I want to talk to him about the situation and ask him to help Africa. It is linked with other genre because after talking to people, I want finally god to do something about it. It will be great because I will use many feelings and tears to make the prayer going smooth.
Finally, I will do a persuasive essay to persuade Africans that they do not
deserve GM food to help them because it will do more harm than good. My target audience is Africans because many think that they should just accept any kind of help. It will connect to other genre to emphasize on the kind of help Africa deserves.
